In this lesson, you will explore:
- Understand the role of subjects in the academic hierarchy: programs are made up of subjects or units of competency, which then flow through to applications, enrolments, training plans and reporting.
- Learn how to access the Subject Entry screen from the Academic menu and how the subject search and listing screen relates to individual subject records.
- See how Subject Code and Subject Name are used for day-to-day searching, selection and on-screen reporting within TEAMS.
- Understand the purpose of Subject Descriptive Code and Subject Descriptive Name, and why they should match the official training.gov.au (TGA) unit code and title for AVETMISS and certification.
- Learn why TEAMS usually imports your scope (programs and subjects) during implementation, and when you would manually create new subjects, such as when training packages or units are superseded.
- Identify when and how to mark a subject as Active and why it is recommended to keep subjects active and manage changes using superseded relationships instead of immediately making subjects inactive.
- Learn how to link subjects to all campuses or specific campuses so they can be used correctly in applications, enrolments and reporting.
- Understand the Type of Subject field, including when to use Unit of competency for VET units and when to use Other subject for ELICOS, higher education or non-VET subjects.
- Recognise how a well-configured subject record supports accurate course progress, AVETMISS reporting and clear documentation for students and auditors.
IMPORTANT: At the end of this lesson, you will then need to complete the quiz for it before moving on to the next Lesson.
