NAT Files – the building blocks of student data
In this lesson, you will learn how to :
- Understand what a NAT file is and why AVETMISS uses multiple NAT files
- Identify how different NAT files link together to form a complete AVETMISS dataset
- Understand how data entered in your student management system is extracted into NAT files
- Recognise the role of foundation NAT files and how they support NAT120 and NAT130
- Learn how fixed-width formatting works and why character positions matter
- Locate and use the official AVETMISS collection specifications to interpret NAT files
- Use appropriate tools to view NAT files correctly without editing them
